Privacy Policy

Here's exactly what ends up in our database:

• IP address: logged with every challenge, click on a king's link, and analytics event. Used to detect abuse and understand where traffic comes from.
• User agent & referrer: collected when someone clicks a king's outbound link. Tells us roughly what browser/device people use and where they came from.
• King name, message, and URL: what you submit when you claim the throne. Displayed publicly on the site.
• Stripe session ID: stored alongside each challenge so we can reconcile payments. We never see your card number. Stripe handles that entirely.
• Email address (optional): only if you choose to provide one. Used to notify you when someone dethrones you. Never required, never shared.
• Analytics events: page views and game events (e.g. “challenge started”). Includes a session ID, event name, and properties like the current price.

All payment processing is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number, CVV, or any other payment credentials. When you pay, you're entering your information directly into Stripe's hosted checkout page. It never touches our servers.

Stripe has its own privacy policy that governs how they handle your payment information.

We use Vercel Analytics to understand how people use the site. This includes page views and Web Vitals. Vercel Analytics is privacy-friendly. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't fingerprint visitors.

We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand traffic sources, user behavior, and how visitors navigate the site. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish unique visitors and collects information such as pages viewed, time on site, device type, and approximate location. Google does not use this data to identify you personally. IP addresses are not logged.

We also record lightweight game events (like when the throne changes hands) in our own database to understand how the game is being played.

The data we collect is used to:

• Run the game and display the throne state to everyone
• Process and verify payments
• Email you when you're dethroned (only if you opted in)
• Detect and prevent abuse
• Understand how people use the site so we can improve it

We do not sell your data. We don't share it with third parties for marketing. We don't run ads.

Challenge and reign records are kept indefinitely. They're the history of the game. Analytics events and click logs may be pruned periodically to keep the database lean. If you provided an email and want it removed, just ask.

Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) to distinguish unique visitors and track sessions. Vercel Analytics is cookieless. Stripe may set cookies during checkout on their hosted page. That's governed by Stripe's own policy.
